Suffolk Car Badge

Suffolk. Manufactured in Resin and having a Stainless backing plate, by Renamel of London from the early 60’s until 1974 when the County Boundaries of England were changed. The shield shows a gold engrailed cross on a black field, coming from the de Ufford Earls of Suffolk. At the top (in Chief) are two Leopards' faces which are from the arms of the de la Pole Earls and Dukes of Suffolk. Centred is a Viking ship with sun coming from the East. Marking the fact that the peoples of the County were Norsemen from Scandinavia, the Sun denoting the Easterly position of the County.
