Somerset Car Badge

Somerset. Manufactured in Resin and having a Stainless backing plate, by Renamel of London from the early 60’s until 1974 when the County Boundaries of England were changed. The shield shows a red Dragon in the rampant position holding a mace, a common sign of Government. The Dragon possiably coming from the Saxon Kingdom of Wessex, which at one time Somerset was a part of. The curly tailed Dragon is normally associated with Wales but others can be found on German badges and Yeo-Vale Motor Cycle Club shows a good example.
