Rutland. It was the smallest County in England. Manufactured in Resin and having a Stainless backing plate, by Renamel of London from the early 60’s until 1974 when the County Boundaries of England were changed. The shield shows a green field representing the County's abundance of lush pasture land. The ten acorns representing forests that once covered most of the County. The horseshoe reflecting a collection of Horseshoes at Oakham Castle denoted by Royalty, Peers and noblemen as they passed through the County. The Crest on top of the Shield shows horseshoe and acorn on a wreath.
