Cardiganshire (Crediganshire). (Welsh) 4.25” tall (109mm) Manufactured by Renamel of London, centre part in resin and having the Crown and “R” on the front of the tang. First quarter shows a black lion on gold, which is based on the arms of Gwaithfoed, a medieval Prince of Ceredigion. Second and third quarters shows a herring and a wheat sheaf represent the fishing industry and agriculture. The chevron and roses in the fourth quarter are the arms ascribed to Dewi Sant (Saint David), the patron saint of Wales, who has very close associations with Cardiganshire, now known as Ceredigion. c 1960’s early 1970's
