Royal Automobile Club 1955 - 1961 MCD Full Members Car Badge

Royal Automobile Club MCD Full Members Badge. 118 mm (4.6") tall First of the Elizabethan Full Members Badges introduced in 1955. Constructed by the Central King Edward's head roundel securing the bakelite type material onto a chrome pressing, secured with a rubber washer and clamping washer on a smooth pin on the reverse of the roundel. A metal backing plate secured with four alloy rivets securing front and back together. Available in this side fixing version (MCC type) and a Tang version. Not a popular badge because of breaking up of the blue Bakelite. Stamped on the reverse "The Property of the RAC" and "B'ham Medal & Badge Coy Ltd" Change in Crown from the Edwardian Imperial Crown, to the Coronation Crown. Finally withdrawn in 1961.
