Halifax Speedway "The Dukes" Car Badge

Halifax Speedway "The Dukes" 4.25” tall (109 mm) Manufactured by Renamel of London, resin centre and having the marking "R" and Crown. c 1960's early 1970’s Speedway started in Halifax as early as 1928 and was staged at Thrun Hall, but this only lasted a couple of years. Re-starting in 1948 as the Halifax Nomads. In 1949 a new stadium at the "Shay" came into being and the team was nicknamed the "Dukes" after the Duke Of Wellington's regiment stationed in Halifax, The Elephant being the Regiments symbol, was also adopted. Sadly Racing only lasted until the end of the 1951 season. Returning in 1965 until 1986 when they moved to Bradford's Odsal Stadium, become the Bradford Dukes
