Ulster Car Badge
Irish & Scottish
Ulster (Irish) 4.3” tall (110mm) Manufactured in Resin and having a Stainless backing plate, by Renamel of London from the early 60’s until 1974 when the County Boundaries of England were changed. The shield shows a red cross on a gold field, in the centre is a white shield on which is charged a Red Hand. These are an amalgamation of the arms of the great two families the O'Neill's and the Burke's. Various stories abound about the Red Hand, said to be a sailor seeing that he would not be the first to reach the shore, cut his hand off and threw it over his rivals to claim the land for his family.
