The first RAC Rally of Great Britain was in 1951

In 1970 the Daily Mirror started sponsoring the event for the next four years.

In 1974 Lombard North Central took over and it became known as the Lombard RAC Rally.

1993 saw a new sponsor in Network Q who continued into the Millennium.

2003 saw a change in name to the Welsh Rally, apart from being known as the Rally of Great Britain in 2009, it remains as the Wales Rally to this day
