RAC

Royal Automobile Club

Badges fall into two distinctive sections.

Full Members badges

These are/were only available to Members of the Club, who needed a proposer and a second, before being considered for Full Membership.

By definition these badges are more ornate and in most cases rarer

Associate Members badges

Majority of Associate Members join for the advantages to be had, such as breakdown service.

Badges tended to be available at a fraction of the cost of the Full Members ones and produced in far greater numbers.

Automobile Clubs could be Associated with the RAC, every Member being entitled to the Associate benefits. Many of the Early Clubs opting to have a distinctive centre in place of the Union Flag, these are known as "County" badges and are amongst the rarest and very collectable.
